FARMERS RECEIVE INPUTS FOR BETTER PRODUCTIVITY
No fewer than two hundred registered farmers at Neni, Anaocha local government area, received farm inputs for this year’s farming season.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba while distributing the inputs to the beneficiary farmers said it aims at achieving food security in the state.
Mr. Onukwuba, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Agric Export, Dr Okey Okwuosa, said that the inputs-support would enable the farmers achieve maximum yield, so that food will be available and sufficient for the people, especially after the lockdown, occasioned by Coronavirus pandemic.
He urged them to apply the inputs, using best agronomic practices to achieve the government’s set objectives.
Among the inputs distributed were inorganic fertilizers, lime for neutralizing soil acidity, improved cassava stems and maize seedlings.
The local government Director of Agric, Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwoye, and the chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Anambra chapter, Chief Donatus Okafor were among the officials that witnessed the exercise.
