MINISTER ASSURES ON COMPLETION OF SECOND NIGER BRIDGE
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has assured that the second Niger Bridge being constructed, will be completed by the Buhari administration, stating that the three hundred and thirty six billion naira fund meant for the project is intact.
The minister gave the assurance while speaking to journalists in Awka, Anambra State capital, recently.
Senator Ngige, who said that work was “speedily going on” on the construction of the bridge with about 45 per cent work done, revealed that the contractor has made an undertaking to deliver the project before the appointed date of 2022.
He blamed the initial hiccup on demands for compensation, adding that the cost of the bridge from exit route of Delta and the South-East and the South-South is about N336bn.The former governor of the state, assured that the Federal Government is building the bridge as one of its five flagship projects, which include; the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, East-West Road 2nd Niger Bridge, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, and the Manbilla project.
