SENATOR IZUNASO AT 54, BREAKS NEW GROUNDS …DEMANDS COMMISSION FOR DISABILITY
Good deeds have continued to attract commendations and Challenges to both government and Citizens alike.
Senator OsitaIzunaso’sKpakpando Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization, turned a muster seed of a man with Immeasurable love for people with disability.
Addressing more than 2,500 people with various forms of disabilities and guests at his fifty fourth birthday celebrations in Owerri, Senator Osita Izunaso passionately requested governments to set up relevant agencies that will cater for people with various forms of disabilities across Nigeria. According to him, no state government in the country,apart from Lagos, has a ministry that caters for the needs of Special Citizens.
The Celebrant, a former National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), opined that the move will not only assist but give these challenged people a sense of belonging. He added that love for all, is divine. He observed that such commission would also attract United Nations funding in human capital developments.
The Chairman on the occasion, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, represented by Senator Lar expressed delight that worthy Nigerians abound, but few are in the likes of Senator OsitaIzunaso whose hallmark remains making everyone, especially the physically challenged realize their God’s given potentials.
The Deputy Governor of Yobe State, who represented the Executive Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, lauded Senator Izunaso for his philosophy and vision aimed at assisting others.
The host governor, EmekaIhedioha represented by his deputy, Engr.Gerald Irona described the celebrant as a worthy asset and brother who has continued to touch lives positively. He urged the people to see the gesture worthy of emulation, praying God to continue to sustain him.
The Leader of ODINMA Ideato nation, Chief Nelson Okwara who led a delegation to the celebration, extolled Senator Izunaso, describing him as a man God is using to break grounds, adding that the magnanimity and show of love exhibited by him through his Kpakpando Foundation is heartwarming. “Morally and religiously speaking, this is the best place to celebrate on earth, people are equal before God;” Chief Okwara declared. He therefore urged Nigerians to emulate Kpakpando Foundation.
The birthday celebrations which is the 14th edition commenced with the celebration of the Mass followed by reception at the Owerri Cultural Center, the residence of the celebrant. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Bede Okorie from Enugu, who in his homily, extolled the celebrant’s love for God and humanity.The Catholic clergy urged him to note that life is all about grace. His word: “every action of man is being recorded by the Creator of the Universe, therefore continue with the grace.”
HRH Eze (Dr.) Oliver Ohanwe, Obi of Ihim Okohia Osuh OwerriIsiala-Mbano urged the Beneficiaries to make good use of what they received to better their lot. Many were also treated by a team of Medical Personnel engaged by Senator Osita Izunaso’s Free Medicare arm of the Foundation.
The highlight was the cutting of the birthday cake by Senator Osita Izunaso flanked by the physically challenged who went home with various kinds of empowerment packages as well as citizens with special needs and friends of the celebrant.
