WE ARE READY TO AUDIT PAST FRUGALITY IN IMO FINANCE – OSUJI.
The Auditor- General of Imo State, Chief Ebenezer Osuji, has declared his readiness and resolve to ensure probity while auditing the true financial position of Imo State accounts with banks, during the tenure of former Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The Auditor General gave this assurance while answering questions form Journalists in his office; noting that the action was in response to the order State House of Assembly, to engage the services of forensic experts to unravel the truth about the operators of more than 250 suspicious Bank Accounts in the name of Imo State Government, during the tenure of the last administration.
He averred that the directive is constitutional and mandatory as part of the oversight function of the State House of Assembly.He described as inimical the operation of multiple bank accounts by any government agent.
The Imo Auditor General who is a financial expert condemned leaders and government officials who go about proliferating bank accounts saying that multiplicity of bank accounts negate transparency, probity as it is fraud prone especially in a nation battling to embrace cashless policies.
