 Members of the Imo State House of Assembly who participated actively at the 2 – days capacity building seminar, held at the Concorde Hotel, Owerri, recently; have said that the autonomy of the Legislature will enhance and strengthen good governance, rule of law, due process, accountability and economic prosperity.
They affirmed that the true separation of powers among the 3-ties of government will improve effective administration with the executive following rules and orders of legislature and judiciary to advance development and prosperous living.

Dwelling on Post Induction Reflection and Legislative Term Agenda and Development, the   Legislators: Hon Michael Crown Njoku, Ihitte-Uboma, Hon Uju Onwudiwe, Igolo, Njaba and Hon Paul Emeziem, Onuimo State Constituencies, noted that the retreat was targeted at enhancing legislative functions in order to promote actual democracy, breeding healthy and wealthy society.
Hon Uju Onwudiwe, in his own remarks stated:  “The workshop was very good. We were there to equip ourselves on the things we need to do that are appropriate to help us perform our duties effectively and efficiently and enhance our knowledge. Due process is important; it keenly helps the executive imbibe sense of good governance. IMO people are in dire need of infrastructures especially roads, electricity and water. The government must rise to solve these problems.”
Also speaking, Hon Michael Crown Njoku assured that the House would always apply its legislative capability to ensure that the executive works proficiently for the good of the state, to curb poverty: insecurity, crime and violence.Encouraging the legislators to participate in this type of programme to equip themselves is a continuous process, the Honourable member stated. He added that “Imo is moving forward. We are on course. This is a due process government, soon budget will be presented for real work to start”.

Another member of the House, Hon Paul Eleziem added that the “training is meant for improvement, and to enhance our lawmaking capability and perform creditably to serve the people of the state well.
He further stated that the seminar promotes transparency, due process and boosts outputs. It is a welcome development and I’m impressed with the turnout of participants at the seminar.
The 2-days capacity enhancement workshop on quality legislation for good governance and due process was attended by both Legislators and some Senior Staff of the Assembly with the 9th Assembly Speaker, Hon Chiji Collins, expressing satisfaction on the outcome of the programme. He assured that the House will apply effectively legislative ideas and abilities they have been impacted to improve the fortunes of the state.
