Assa,Obile Communities Pay Solidarity Visit Government House Ohaji/Egbema IMC Chairman, Express Gratitude To Rebuild Imo Govt Over Security Network.
Thousands of people from Assa and Obile Autonomous Communities in Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of Imo State, recently paid a solidarity visit to the Government House and the State Assembly Complex to express their confidence in the state Deputy Governor, Engr. Gerald Irona and their LGA Interim Management Committee Chairman, Hon. Damian Ezeruo.
The group carried placards with inscriptions which read: “Assa/Obile passes vote of confidence on IMC Chairman, Hon. Damian Ezeruo. Town Union appointment is in order,CGC was by appointment. We thank the IMC Chairman for rescuing Obile from Uju and Owelle. Obile people are thanking the Deputy Governor for restoring peace in our community”; among others.
Speaking during the solidarity march,the President General of Obile autonomous community,Comr. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka told the Deputy Governor that his people are for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and shall continue to support the present Rebuild Imo administration led by Rt. Hon. EmekaI hedioha. Comr. Omuruka revealed that some of their people who were in exile throughout the tenure of the last administration in the state because of insecurity have returned. He added that his people now sleep with their two eyes closed. He called on the government to deploy more security agents in the oil rich communities maintaining that his cardinal points as the president general are to fight criminality and raise genuine youths who would be useful to the society at large.
His words: ” It is unfortunate that the immediate past administration empowered our youths with ammunition. No electricity in Ohaji/Egbema communities. No good road network and hospitals. I want our youths to turn a new leaf as there is no gain in criminality.”
His counterpart from Assa community, Barr. Promise Uyaeme thanked the government for the appointment of their son,Dr Anthony Kerunwa as the Interim Management Chairman of Adapalm. Barr. Uyaeme also commended the Government for scrapping Okorocha’s Community Government Council, CGC which according to him has done more harm than good in all the communities in Imo State.
Responding, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Gerald Irona expressed the commitment of the present administration to domesticate government in the rural areas. He okayed the newly appointed president generals of Assa and Obile autonomous communities respectively charging them to liaise with their traditional rulers so as to forward list of vigilante groups to the government for proper screening. He informed them that the present administration in Imo State has commenced installation of rural electrification in Ohaji/Egbema communities urging the oil producing region to be law abiding as government will soon ameliorate their plights.
Addressing the group at the State House of Assembly Complex, the member for Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency, Hon. Heclus Cyriacus Okoro who spoke on behalf of the Assembly Speaker thanked them for demonstrating solidarity and support for Ihedioha led administration promising them of effective representation.
