A non-governmental Organisation, Youth Association of Anambra South Senatorial, YAASSD, made the commendation in Abuja.
The group made up of youths from all the local government areas making up Anambra South Senatorial District, described the project as laudable especially as it focuses on youth development’
Speaking through its coordinator, Barrister Peter Ekwueme, the group said youths development is a feature that is often absent in most leader’s line of priority in Nigeria today.
According to him, there is no gainsaying that the youths of Nigeria and Africa as a whole cannot grow mentally, socially and educationally if the leaders do not create an encouraging environment and platform for the said desired growth.
The group appealed to the Governor, not to stop at the initiation stage of the scholarship program, but to also ensure that the processes that would produce the beneficiaries is free and fair. They suggested that, if possible, the state government should put in place, measures that will ensure that the beneficiaries of the program will not be stranded in the course of the program, either by the distraction of the state government or by the interruption from an incoming government.
They also appreciated the Chairman/CEO, Air Peace Airline, Barrister Allen Onyema for his patriotic and humane gesture of airlifting and bringing back home Nigerians during the Xenophobic crisis in South Africa saying that he inspired a generation of youths into believing in Nigeria again as his selfless act of kindness has shown that not every Nigerian man cares about himself and his household.
The group also congratulated legislators of Anambra extraction in the ninth Assembly, urging them to always remember, that the mandate is not theirs but that of NdiAnambra and as such, must observe diligence, fairness, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties especially as regards their constituency projects.
